How to use Marble Dust with Cold Wax Painting Medium
|
Marble Dust added to Cold Wax If texture and impasto are what you want in your painting, then Marble Dust is a first choice for many painter. Used as an Addition for changing the character of the Cold Wax Painting Medium to give grittiness, texture and substance. Small amounts of Marble Dust added to an Oil/Wax mixture can give texture and body. Because the Marble Dust can 'dry' the mixture, add a little Linseed oil or Clear Painting Medium to give workability and to keep the mixture pliable. Add the Marble Dust on or off the surface of the painting, meaning, form the shapes or decorations separate to the main surface. Marble Dust is available from our ArtywaxShop or we have it on Ebay, probably choose 'fine grade' to start. |
To add a Marble/Oil/Wax mixture to a painting, the suggestion would be to have the painting on a rigid surface, furthermore, use a metal painting knife or similar to apply the mixture because the wax becomes harder to move and blend. It needs respect when using pastel, chalk, marble and slate, it also needs to 'feel right' when applied as there will be structural differences. |
